Beach Break Live 2011

The Festival season has started!

The Animal Bike Tour was on hand to entertain the crowds of students at Beach Break Live music festival this weekend in Pembrey, South Wales. This four-day Student event featured tons of great artists such as Tiny Tempah, Katy B, Mark Ronson, Zane Lowe and Example….and us!

The first two days were hampered by rain, but by Friday evening the weather remembered it was summer and gave Martyn and Blake blue skies and starry evenings to bust out the show below.

“The weather made it hard at times, but music festivals are difficult as we are at the mercy of what’s happening on the main stage, so we just need to be ready to ride when the opportunity for a big crowd arises. This meant we had shows at some weird times, like on Saturday night when Martyn rode with bike lights on at 12.30am!

I was really pleased with my riding too. Every show I tried to push myself and go as big as possible. I pulled some big stuff – I know the crowd appreciated it, they really loved the crashes too!!”

With the wet weather and strange timing of shows meant the Bike Tour had to fight hard for attention. The feedback we got from some spectators demonstrated they’d done pretty good.

“I ride MTB, I’ve seen the boys in MBUK tons – couldn’t believe my luck in seeing two awesome riders this weekend, the show was absolutely amazing” via twitter from @DanHolby, Loughborough

“@MartynAshton and @ZimBlake were GOBSMACKINGLY FAB at BBL saw 3 performances and could watch so much more! Absolutely amazing stuff! Bravo!xo” via twitter from @LittleLauraElle

The Animal Bike Tour is a mammoth 60-date affair each year and there isn’t a rider who knows it better than front-man Martyn Ashton. He’s been riding for Animal since 2002 and performing shows for 20-years.

“Each event is a new challenge, the set-up, the weather, the audience… it’s the same obstacles but never the same experience…that’s what I love about it. Trying to get the best out of each location is where I get my competitive fix for the Bike Tour. We have always had a really strong team however I’m sure this year’s crew is the ultimate – Blake, James and Robin put their heart & soles into each and every show, as do I. It’s so fun when you get it right and the crowd are going mental, a bit addictive if I’m honest.”

The Animal Bike Tour has plenty of dates left this year so make sure you take the chance to see the guys in action on the brand new 2011 rig. The next date is Goodwood Festival of Speed – hopefully see you all there.
